Create a custom centre console designed around a modified EK Holden interior, combining classic styling with modern functionality.
A custom rear spoiler designed to complement the flowing lines of the Toyota 86, combining a smooth duck-bill profile with a clear perspex centre .
The project began with a 3D scan of the vehicle, providing an accurate digital representation of the boot lid and surrounding bodywork. Surface modelling techniques were then used to develop the spoiler directly around the existing form of the car, allowing the shape to flow naturally from the bodywork.
The final design was developed as three interlocking 3D printed sections, with threaded inserts incorporated into the structure for secure installation onto the boot lid.
For the clear centre section, a roll-out development was created from the curved surface. This allowed the perspex profile to be flattened into an accurate cutting pattern before being produced on a CNC router.
The finished spoiler was 3D printed in ABS and solvent bonded together to create the complete structure. The result is a lightweight, custom-designed duck-bill spoiler with a clean integrated perspex centre section.
With the digital design and physical prototype completed, the customer was able to choose their own paint and panel shop to handle preparation, finishing and final installation.
